“Rubisa Patrol was a band that Art Lande formed in San Francisco in the mid 70’s. It was a seminal experience for me, as Art was a player and teacher whom I greatly admired. The ensuing years that I’ve spent playing with him have been some of the most rewarding musical experiences I’ve ever had. We made a number of records together – 2 with the band Rubisa Patrol, the first one being named after the band. Art and I went on to make a duo record titled We Begin, which explored all the various aspects of our personal experiments. I not only played trumpet, but electronics and synthesizers, and Art not only played piano, but drums as well. It was a wild and experimental 3 days we spent in Oslo with the great record producer Manfred Eicher. “
