The Mist

Mark has added one more genre to the impressive variety of films that he has scored, having recently tackled Horror for The Mist. Frank Darabont, the brilliant screenwriter/director behind The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Majestic, has brought The Mist to life from a short story by expert storyteller Stephen King. The film stars Thomas Jane (The Punisher) as David Drayton, an artist who becomes trapped at a grocery store with his 5year-old son and a disparate group of townspeople when a strange mist envelops the town. Soon it becomes clear that there are bizarre creatures lurking within the mist, and those holed up in the grocery store must overcome their own personal demons if they are to band together and survive. Andre Braugher (Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) and Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River, Into the Wild) also lend compelling performances.

Mark says “It is always a great pleasure to work with Frank – his talents as a writer and director are limitless. This being my first Horror film, I found myself a bit squeamish at first, but once I got past that, this film was a blast.” The music is aggressive, atonal, and scary – just like the movie! Mark comments, “It was a lot of fun to abandon melody and harmony and dive into a whole range of emotions I rarely get the chance to score.”
